Tire Performance
Tires affect the performance of a vehicle and it is highly important that all four tires of a commercial vehicle are identical. This ensures better handling and smoother running, especially at high speeds or poor road conditions.
Quite often an owner of a commercial vehicle is in the market for only one tire. This may be because the tire to be replaced has been in an accident or has been vandalized. If your original set of tires has been Yokohama tires, look for a replacement of the same brand, specifications, size and speed rating. Do not try to go in for another brand just because you are getting it cheaper. This way the performance of the tire will match with the other three tires already in place and cause no problems.

Wear and tear on tiires
Normally wear and tear on tires will be constant for each pair of tires, whether front or back. So if you are to replace tires because there has been excessive wear or less tread depth is available, see if you can replace a pair of tires. Again make sure they are of the same brand as the ones you are going to continue with. And when you get in your new pair of tires, mount them on the rear axle and the remaining two on the front axle. You also need to find out why the pair of tires has worn out faster as you may spot problems with not having rotated your tires properly, wheel alignment problems or even some parts of the mechanical system that are loose. Correct any defect that you find before you install the new pair of tires.

Selecting Yokohama Tires
A well maintained truck, where proper care has been taken in tire rotation, wheel alignments and suspension matters would have all tires wearing out similarly, and you may require replacing the entire set as soon as the recommended mileage has been crossed. Now this is where you have the greatest flexibility in selection of tires. Review all the tires available at your tire dealers and try and correct any problems that you may have had with the previous set. Selecting Yokohama truck tires would give you a very wide range of tires to select from, and you need to ask your dealer to recommend for you the correct type, depending on your quantum of running, roads you travel on and even the loads that you normally carry. Yokohama experts would tell you which would suit you the best and last you a long time. This is also the right time to decide whether you want to change your tire diameter or increase the height of the vehicle. Each of these would have its own technical problems best left to the Yokohama expert. Also make sure that you consider all sorts of conditions that your truck is subject to, weather and road conditions and any other thing that could affect tire performance.
Tires are after all the medium on which your truck will travel and ensure your livelihood. They require to be given just that extra bit of attention when you are buying new tires. Be it one, a pair or an entire set of four.
